Major Writing Assignment #1: Initial thoughts (assignment for the 8/22)

Now at first glance this assignment seems heavily favored in the direction of the scientific way of writing, where even if your intended field of study isn't scientific, this assignment will be in the style of a scientific analysis of your intended field, meaning it will not be a normal writing assignment that you may be used to back in high school, where it was mostly opinionated. I believe this assignment will be more factual and analytical while taking on a new way of writing that most of us have not experienced before. Topic Proposal for Major Assignment #2

Introduction : For the second assignment we are needing to write a literature review on a specific topic/question of our choosing. A topic that I have found a lot of sources and greatly sparked my interest is the negative and positive effects of caffeine on athletic performance. I think this topic is very important because of the massive effect and use of caffeine that is very easily seen in the world today. This topic is important because caffeine is major supplement utilized today among literally everyone, from teenagers to adults. Another reason why this topic is important is because it is centered around my intended field of study but also relates to a lot of other professions that can benefit from these reports about the effects. IMRaD Methods

Methods Participants: Those who participated in this study were college students from the random ages of Freshman to Seniors at the University of Iowa in the fall semester of 2018. The total number of participants of the survey were the nineteen students that were in the Rhetoric 1040:0019 class, as well as the forty students on the ninth floor of the Slater Residence Hall.
