Summary of THE Interview

For my interview I turned to my old high school soccer coach, a coach of mine that came in during my senior season as a new coach. Now I knew his brother very well, for he was in my grade, so I had already knew who he was. Also he turned out to be an athletic trainer for our local hospital. Now our relationship grew a lot during the season and we became close, so I knew I would choose him for this assignment as soon as I heard about it. When I gave the interview it was over email so I sent him my list of questions. The questions were focused primarily on the genre and style of writing he sees in his professional field. He told me that he reads quite a bit of material and that he sees many variety of styles, but one thing that is specific is that they always start the same way and sort of always have the same format. With a background, short pre-summary, and information to start out the paper. Now before the interview during my research I found the exact same story line as what my coach was saying. That the style and format of the writings all start the same and consist the same basic stuff. In simple words to describe it, it is very professional. Especially in academic writings. My coach said many other things as well, stating that he does see a lot of variation from when he was in college to now even with how young he is. He sees kind of an older style as well as a newer instituted kind of approach, but he states that they are all basically the same throughout. But with non academic it can be different he says, he states that non academic is more free range just because there isn't a specific emphasis on those writings and that it can be up to the author on how they approach it, but even then he says that they usually follow the same format of professional style of writing, where it has a specific guideline laid out for them and that everyone follows. All in all the style of writing in the field of athletic training is wide and vast but very peculiar as well, in a sense that the material and approach of writing can be different but the underlying basic format and genre stays consistent throughout all. Making this assignment hopefully a little easier(laugh out loud).
